A unique proof From the large and important collection of George Francoeur, Michigan. Mr. Francoeur donated several of his works to Cranbrook Art Museum prior to his passing. In 2014, he also established the George Francoeur and Gerald Earls Scholarship Fund. Mr. Francoeur was an early pop art collector, had personal ties with Andy Warhol and was also close friends with S. Brooks Barron from Detroit, who owned an original Warhol self portrait which sold for 38 million dollars (at Christie's auction) in 2011. This lot will include a letter of provenance and details regarding George's collection. Also, a hand signed art exhibition poster given to George from his friend S. Brooks Barron and his wife Florence. Both Mr. and Mrs. Barron signed the poster which George kept until his passing. The poster is for the exhibition at The University Art Gallery in 1967 and featured Mr. Barron's pop art collection. Poster measures: 24" x 19". Please view the link and bio below from The Cranbrook Art Museum in reference to George Francoeur.
