Very rare invitation from ''The President of the United States, and Mrs. Johnson'' requesting ''the pleasure of Mr. & Mrs. Robinson's Company to Dine on Friday next at 6 o'clock Mch. 14th 1868.'' The elegantly printed invitation measures 5'' x 6'' and in the upper blank margin features a large embossed ''J'' at center. The likely invitee, William E. Robinson was a Democratic representative from New York who in the 1840's wrote for the New York Tribune under the name ''Richelieu.'' Minor wear and mounting remnants on verso, else near fine.
