<B>Andrew Johnson Impeachment Senate Gallery Ticket.</B></I> Printed in black ink on green card stock, 3.5” x 3”, dated April 9, 1868. Andrew Johnson (1818-1875) assumed the presidency upon Abraham Lincoln's assassination. He was unpopular among Republicans for a variety of reasons but his 1868 impeachment stems from his violation of the Tenure of Office Act in which Johnson tried to remove Secretary of War Edwin Stanton and replace him with Lorenzo Thomas.
