Manuscript vellum DS as president, one page both sides, 12 x 14.5, April 5, 1832. “In consideration of Military Service,” Jackson grants a four hundred acre parcel of land to Robert Morrow, “a Captain for seven years & ten months & John Hackley a Lieutenant for seven years to the United States in the Virginia Line.” Nicely signed at the conclusion by Jackson and countersigned by Elijah Haywood as commissioner of the general land office. In very good condition, intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered toning and soiling, including several circular areas from seal, and scattered creases and wrinkles. Jackson was the last president to routinely sign these land grants. He finally stopped altogether, paving the way for all future presidents. An unusual format with Jackson’s signature measuring just over six inches long.
