Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 13 x 16.75, August 1, 1832. President Jackson appoints Walter Smith a “Captain in the First Regiment of Artillery.” Signed at the conclusion by Jackson, and countersigned by Secretary of War Lewis Cass. Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, several separations and holes along folds, scattered toning, soiling, and wrinkling, and lightly trimmed vertical edges, otherwise very good condition. The paper seal is toned, but intact.
