Andrew Jackson - Seven Anti-Adams Illustrations
During the campaign of 1828, a series of "Coffin Handbills" or broadsides were distributed that depicted Andrew Jackson as a murderer who killed personal rivals and unfairly executed soldiers during time of war. These were the brainchild of editor John Binns. Binns is shown here, struggling under a pile of coffins, with Henry Clay and John Quincy Adams protruding from two of them. It is titled: "The Pedlar and his Pack or the Desperate Effort, an Over Balance."
