<B>Andrew Jackson: A Very Choice Example of the Popular Copper Luster Pitcher</B></I>. A medium-sized version (height: 6”), this is a flawless and unimprovable example. These are particularly prone to chipping and cracks around the base and lip, and the copper luster areas are impossible to restore invisibly (the effect was created in firing, and cannot be duplicated without re-firing the piece, which is, of course, impossible). A familiar bust of Jackson on each side, with name above and “Hero of New Orleans” below. These probably date from Jackson’s first presidential run in 1824, as a similar version for LaFayette probably was issued for the old Revolutionary War hero’s triumphant return to visit that same year.
