Eminent Soviet nuclear physicist, dissident and human rights activist (1921-1989). He was an advocate of civil liberties and reforms in the Soviet Union and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975. Very rare glossy 5.25 x 5 head-and-shoulders photo, signed vertically in black ballpoint, “A. Sakharov.” Lightly trimmed edges, and a few scattered light creases and surface impressions, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a glossy 8 x 10 photo of Sakharov’s widow, Elena Bonner, signed in blue felt tip. Rare in any form, particularly signed photos, as this is the first one we have ever offered. Provenance: The Barry Hoffman Collection.
