Andreas Seidl (1760-1834), attributed to, The beheading of a saint in nocturnal torch light, pen and black ink, light brown wash, over indications in chalk, on paper,18.6 x 16.4 cm, laid down, the black framing lines dating from a later period, lightly fixed to the support, mounted, with a subsidiary drawing of a man in a helmet on the same sheet, (GL). In the late 18th century Andreas Seidl was known as a painter of several altar pieces and was also responsible for the decoration of the Sacristy of St. Peter's Church in Munich, to which he contributed four oil paintings.
