Anders Andersen-Lundby (1840-1923), Winter Landscape, c. 1890
The present landscape painting is a work of the Danish artist Anders Andersen-Lundby and dates to the period around 1890. It depicts a wintery mountain landscape with houses in the evening light. The work was executed with a picturesque, impressionistic style that characterizes the winter landscapes by Andersen-Lundby. The artist was very successful in Munich, where he worked as a painter most of his life.

The canvas has been laid down on hardboard and the edges are cut accordingly. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered areas of retouching; mostly in the sky, the trees and the houses. The paint surface has slightly lifted from the canvas at the upper left. There are a few light abrasions and craquelured areas and the paint surface is very slightly dirty. The wooden frame is in good condition considering its age. The framed work measures 44 x 53.5 cm and the size of the canvas is 29.5 x 39 cm.
