Archaic Punch-Marked Coinage from the Magadha Janapada, Nanda Dynasty (c. 343-321 BCE) – Silver Karshapana, weighing 3.40g. The obverse features five distinct punches: 1. A six-armed symbol, 2. The sun, 3. A rabbit facing right with three taurine symbols surrounding its body, 4. A coconut palm, and 5. A plant. The reverse is marked with an intriguing countermark of a dot surrounded by five crescents. This coin belongs to Series III of P.L. Gupta and T.R. Hardaker, catalogue number 310, Bold Punches, Scarce.
