Satavahanas, Vasithiputa Siva Siri Pulumavi, Silver Drachm, 1.87g. “Portrait” type, Obv: Curly-haired bust of the king facing right, with jewel on the forehead, sporting a small moustache and a line of thin facial hair along the cheeks, with heavy ear-plugs; Brahmi legend “Raño Vasithiputasa Siva Siri Pulumavisa” around, Rev: Dynastic emblem composed of modified 'Ujjain' symbol six-arched hill with crescent, Sun and wavy line in the centre; legend in Southern Brahmi “Arahanaku Vahittimakanaku Tiru Tiva Pudumaviku” around. Extremely fine, extremely rare.
An extremely well preserved specimen of this rare issue of the Satavahana portrait series, showing the young king sporting facial hair. Portrait issues of Siva Siri Pulumavi resolved the controversy whether ‘Siri Pulumavi’ and ‘Siva Siri Pulumavi’ were the same individual or different.
