This is a fantastic collection of eight ancient points including Gunther Stemmed (3), Elko Split Stem (1), Clovis (1), Elko Corner Notch (2), and a Hells Canyon Corner Notch (1). All of these points were collected in the Oregon Columbia River region by Craig Turner in the 1930’s. All eight points show an obsidian material and are expertly crafted showing very well-preserved museum quality good condition all being of a high collector grade. The first set shows three Gunther Stemmed or Gunther Island Barbed with each showing a slightly stem with basal notches and barbed ends with a slight serration and high quality of workmanship, these points dated to 1,000-200 B.P. (measures 1 5/8”L, 1 ½”L, 1 ¾”L).Next shows two Elko Corner Notch points of an expert high grade and nice size showing an excurvate blade with barbed shoulder which terminate at a sharp point and the stem shows a concave base. The Elko Corner Notch points date to 3,500-1,400 B.P. (measures 2 7/8”L, 2 1/8”L). There is one Elko Split Stem (Pinto Cluster) which is similar to the Gunther in the incurvate blade with the shoulders being barbed and at an upward angle, the most discernible feather being the base having a concave form to a bifurcated stem (dating to 3,500-1,400 B.P. measuring 1 ¼”L). The lot also features one Hells Canyon Corner Notch point showing an excurvate blade with corner notching, rounded barbed shoulders and a short expanding stem with a convex shape and rounded basal corners, dating to 1,200-200 B.P. (measures 2”L). Lastly shown is the Clovis point with excurvate blade shape with fluting being at the concave base, dating to 15,000-10,000 B.P. (measures 2 1/8”L). These Plateau Indian points show good condition and are in a reiker case which is 8.5”x12.5”.
