The Yuehzhi were a Central Asian nomadic tribe that settled in Transoxiana region, having passed through Sogdiana. The Kushans were a branch of the Yuehzhis. Prior to Kujula Kadphises taking over the affairs of the clan as the 'Yabgou' (headman), few other Yuezhi leaders such as Sapalbizes, Arseiles and Pulages are known to have issued their coins.
