Ancient India: Western Kshatrapas, Karddamaka dynasty - silver drachm of Vijayasena s/o Damasena as Mahakshatrapa (SE 161-173/ 239-251 AD), 'pseudo-mint A' ('Damasenasaputrasa' legend), dated SE 163 (fully visible), order of sun and crescent in dynastic emblem reversed, Fishman 23.2R, date not listed in Fishman, 2.18g. Obv: profile bust of king facing right, Greek legend around; date behind the head. Rev: dynastic emblem in centre, Brahmi legend Rajno (Mahakshatrapasa Damasenasa)putrasa Rajno Mahakshatrapasa Vijayasenasa around.

Good very fine, Unique.

The positions of the crescent and sun on either side of the arched-hill symbol in the centre are transposed on this coin. The date read by Fishman on the coin he illustrates (listed as 'unique') is 169. However here we see the date clearly to be 163. This is therefore the first specimen of this date / variety known.
