Satavahanas - silver 'portrait' type drachm of Vasithiputa Siva Siri Pulumavi (c.120-135 AD), 2.26g. Obv: curly-haired bust of the king facing right, with long neck, heavy ear-plugs and a jewel on the forehead, sporting a small moustache and a line of thin facial hair along the cheeks; Brahmi legend Raño Vasithiputasa Siva Siri Pulumavisa around. Rev: dynastic emblem composed of modified 'Ujjain' symbol, six-arched hill with crescent, sun and wavy line in the centre; legend in Southern Brahmi Arahanaku Vahitti Makanaku Tiva Tiru Pudumaviku around.

Extremely fine, Very rare.

This is a very rare variety of Siva Siri Pulumavi's portrait coinage, showing a differently executed bust with long neck, prominent nose and a thinner countenance with beard and moustache. Most likely it was struck in a mint located in the Eastern part of the Satavahana Empire. A specimen of the same type but slightly compromised condition hammered for Rs. 43000 in our eAuction no. 2.
