Maitrakas of Valabhi - unattributed silver dramma dated to (c.700-800 AD), issued most likely from the Eastern parts of the Maitraka kingdom, unpublished in major sources and an interesting type, 0.49g. Obv: Three-quarters bust of king, facing a snake. Rev: Trident in the centre and a 8th century Brahmi legend not yet read fully but begins with Shri Maharaja…

Very fine, Extremely rare.

It is likely that 8th century Maitraka rulers Siladitya III, IV or V issued this type. In Siladitya IV's reign, Junaid the Arab Amir of Sindh invaded Gujarat. The weight of this coin matches closely with the Dammas of the Arab Amirs.
