Lesser Satavahanas of Banavasi?, copper 'bull' type coin, unusual and unattributed, unpublished in major sources, 1.05g. Obv: Bull standing facing left, strung bow-and-arrow and Chakra above; truncated brahmi legend beginning with Raño… above the back of the bull and continuing along the borders. Rev: Tree-in-railing symbol repeated twice.

Extremely fine, Extremely rare

Although the legend on this coin is truncated, an attribution to the Lesser Satavahanas of Banavasi is very plausible considering the symbolic program of the type. The execution of the coin is neat and of good quality and therefore it would be appropriate to treat it as an issue of a semi-imperial dynasty. Of the other letters, possibly Samana Si... is visible along the right margin.
