Obv: horse walking to right, small 'Ujjain' symbol above its rump, rectangle with four droplets inside to right, bold Srivatsa above; Brahmi legend Sutimati above the horse. Rev: elephant standing facing right on pedestal with upraised trunk, 'Ujjain' symbol above, tree railing to left, upside down Nandipada and a triangle-headed standard to right.

Good Very fine, Very rare.

Textual evidence suggests Suktimati was the capital of the ancient 'Chedi Janapada'. It was located on the banks of a river of the same name. Its exact location is not identified but it might be close to the modern day city of Rewa. The coinage of Suktimati shows distinct similarity with that of Kausambi.
