Guptas, Samudra Gupta, Gold Dinar, 7.51g, "Javelin" type, Obv: Nimbate King standing to left, wearing traditional kushan tunic and shorts style dhoti, Brahmi legend “Samudra/ Gupta” written vertically below his left arm which is bent upwards and holding Javelin with the Spearhead pointed down, resting on the ground. With his right hand the king is offering oblations to the fire alter. The Garuda standard is on the left, Brahmi legend “(Samarasatavitatavijayo) jitaripurajitodivamjayati” around, Rev: Goddess seated on high back throne holds the diadem in right hand and Cornucopia in left hand, Brahmi legend “Parakramah” on right (S Kumar# Class II, Varity E.4). Extremely fine, extremely rare.
