Getting very hard to find! Ancient pottery Bell Krater from the Greek colony of Apulia in southeastern Italy, ca. 350-330 B.C. Primary side features standing female dressed in himation, holding floral stalk in one hand, patera in the other. Confronting the female is a nude male youth, also shown holding floral stalk in one hand and situla in other. Reverse side features two himation-clad males, one with a rod in hand, appearing to be chatting with each other. A wave pattern decorates the area just under rim, while a Greek-key pattern just below the ground line. 10-3/4"H x 11-1/4"D. Professionally repaired from a number of large pieces (repainting only over breaks, very little new clay), plus chip to foot. Ex-private European Collection.
