The above listed item is from the the Third Intermediate Period(1075-715 B.C.E.). This "servant of the afterlife" has his hoe, pick, tripartite wig, and eyes painted black. It has most of its blue faience glaze, it's intact except for a slight chip at the base and has age wear "Oh Ushabti, allotted to me, if I be summoned or if I be detailed to do any work which has to be done in the realm of the dead; if indeed obstacles are implanted for you therewith a man at his duties, you shall detail yourself for me on every occasion of making arable the fields, of flooding the banks or of conveying sand from east to west; 'Here am I', you shall say" (Egyptian "Book of the Dead). These "Servants of the Afterlife" have been a common funerary item since the Middle Kingdom(1975 B.C.E.). They are shaped in a mummiform figure and the above sacred incantation is placed upon them to do the"bidding"and work for the deceased in the afterlife. They were shaped for various professions but usually for agricultural purposes. They were commonly made of wood, faience, clay, stone, bronze, wax or glass. In the Middle Kingdom usually only one was placed in the tomb. During the height of the New Kingdom through the Ptolemaic period the popularity of these figures increased to one for each day of the year plus 36 overseers(Supervisors),in many cases to number over 401. Even the lower classes in Egypt had Ushabtis. It was an "in-thing" to have some magical insurance ...
