The above listed item is from the Ptolemaic Period,(332-30 B.C.E.). This incredible and rare "Ptolemaic Fertility Head" was carved from solid granite. We acquired this exquisite piece from a select private collection and its provenance is from Alexandria, Egypt. This Helensitic period Egyptian Aphrodite head is depicted with a double Uraeus cobra surrounding a stylistic phallus! This very rare fertility carving was part of a temple or tomb! This lovely piece is intact with age wear. This type of sculpture would only be seen in a museum or offered in a select gallery! The reason for the item being available is due to the vast extent of archeological findings, thousands of years in Egyptian burials and also the proliferation of these said items in older private collections worldwide.
