The above listed item is from the Egyptian Roman Period,(98-161 C.E.). This extremely rare and large "Male Coptic Coffin Mask" was carved from cedar or sycamore wood and then detailed with paint. We acquired this exquisite and authentic piece from a select private collection and its provenance is from Alexandria, Egypt. Depicted on this face panel from a nested coffin is an Egyptian Coptic man seen, as in life. This very rare item has retained most of its vivid and lustrous original fleshtones, black, white and green colors! This near to snap shot photo and haunting tomb relic painting is in excellent condition with age wear.
