China, dating to the Yuan Dynasty, 1279-1368 A.D. Grey clay statue of a ram. 5-3/4"L x 2-3/8"T x 2-1/8"W, intact, save age- related wear and encrustation.

The Yuan Dynasty was Mongol founded and followed the Song Dynasty. The Dynasty was established by Kublai and Genghis Khan. After the Yuan came the Ming Dynasty. Kublai Khan was a benevolent ruler who embarked on many reforms, according to the Venetian traveler Marco Polo. Under his rule, a rich cultural diversity developed; pottery and porcelain artwork reached new heights.
