This Depression-era sandwich tray is beautiful! It is lovely, clear green glass with a rose wheel cut cornflower design edged with open work lace. This tray most likely was made by Hocking Glass Company through its subsidiaries--Lancaster and Standard glass companies. In that case, the tray would have been made by Lancaster and the cutting done by Standard.<p>

In addition, the quality of the glass resembles that of both Fostoria and Lancaster glass, and the rose wheel cut design is reminiscent of Lancaster?s Depression-era Jubilee pattern. As Lancaster became the eventual owner of Fostoria Glass, this may have partially been due to the visual similarity in some of their product lines. The piece was mold blown and hand finished before the cutwork was applied.<p>

This tray is 11 5/8 inches in diameter with a 4 7/8-inch high center handle in a diamond shape. The handle itself is faceted and is 3/4 inches wide and 5/8 inches thick. The handle is applied to the center of the tray.<p>

The tray has two concentric center circles?one around the handle and one around that circle. The inner circle is 2 3/4 inches in diameter, and the next circle is 4 inches in diameter. Going outward from here is the gorgeous rose wheel cut cornflower and leaf design encircling the plate. Festooning the edge is the open work lace pattern known in Lancaster pieces and also seen in a similar form in some Fostoria pieces.<p>
