This vitrock vase was manufactured by Hocking Glass (now Anchor Hocking) of Lancaster, Ohio.
The vase stands 7 3/4 inches tall with a 3 3/8-inch base. It is 4 1/4 inches in diameter across the top and is 4 inches at its widest point.<p>

This vase is a brilliant deep yellow painted over the vitrock glass.<p>

Vitrock is an opaque glass made by Hocking beginning in the 1920s. It began to be used for dinnerware, tableware, and decorative ware by the 1930s, following a similar movement as other companies such as Hazel Atlas, Pyrex, and Macbeth-Evans, who applied their glass formulas used for industrial purposes towards the making of items for the home.<p>

This vase has Ionic ram scrolls which punctuate the side of the vase. Shell shapes separated by faceted crystal shapes ring the bottom of the bowl of the vase above the base. The vase is footed: on the bottom of the unpainted white glass foot are the raised letters "VITROCK" as well as two undecipherable characters which appear to be an inverse 3 as well as a J.<p>

This vase is an excellent example of Vitrock at its best!<p>

(For a bit of history: Hocking Glass began in 1905 in Lancaster, Ohio. It merged with Anchor Glass in 1937 to become Anchor Hocking, which is still in production. As did many glass companies contemporary to it, Hocking began making colored glassware in the 1920s as an extension of its opaque white industrial glass manufacturing.
