French author (1844–1924) who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1921. Signed book: La Vie Litteraire. Paris: Chez Calmann-lévy. Softcover, 4.75 x 7.5, 374 pages. Signed on the half-title page, in French, (translated): “A walk on the docks through the stalls, poses no danger (see the dangers t. II page 67); the books do not disturb the heart. If some speak of love, they speak in an ancient language, with characters from the past, evoking death and love at the same time - Tome II page 67 Anatole France.” In very good condition, with uniform toning to all pages, small corner chip to signed page, toning and chipping to covers, a bit heavier to spine (which shows paper loss to its head and heavy toning to its tail), fragile binding, and a partial separation along front hinge.
