An outstanding example of the classic “Gun that Won the West”; Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle, .44 caliber, 24” octagon barrel, S/N 98238, blued and case hardened finish, single set trigger, nicely grained wood stocks, four-piece cleaning rod in butt trap in overall fine to excellent condition displaying the majority of its original bright blue finish on the barrel and loading tube with only minor high point wear and the majority of its original vivid case colors on the receiver, hammer and lever with high point toning to high points of the receiver. The action is crisp, the set trigger is working at time of description and the markings are sharp. The bore is minty, the set trigger shows the majority of its original niter blue finish and the crescent butt plate displaying mostly silver toning of the case colors and some spots of erosion. The wood butt stock and forend are in fine condition displaying better-than-standard graining. A ca 1882 manufactured ’73 showing minimal use or handling. Accompanied by a Xerox copy of a factory letter dated July 2, 2003 indicating: Rifle.
