An ivory netsuke of a foreigner carring Tama.
Inscribed Masayuki. Mid 19th century. Standing with his legs together and with both hands holding a large tama on his right shoulder, the tama hollowed out and pierced on the top and both sides, eyes inlaid with black horn. Signed on the end of the ribbon in an oval reserve, Masayuki. 3 1/8in (7.9cm). Provenance: Purchased at auction at Hauswedell, Hamburg, Germany, May 20, 1963.
