An ivory netsuke of a fish group.
By Hasegawa Ikko, Tsu, Early 19th century. Approximately twenty kinds of fish including bream, carp, skate, sunfish, octopus, squid, crayfish, eel, fugu, tai, flounder, perch, and manta ray. The piece is well-carved, slightly toned and lightly worn. Signed in an irregular reserve, Ikko. Meinhertzagen's card reads "Finely carved group. The treatment both original and characteristic.
