Attributed to Ichijo Hakuunsai II, Tokyo, Mid 19th century. , Mid 19th century. The muscular boy sitting cross-legged wearing a loin-cloth and holding a large Buaku type mask over his face, the ribbons that secure the mask are knotted and cascade down his bare back. Signed on the underside, Hakuunsai. 1 1/8in (2.8cm). Provenance: Purchased from Sydney L. Moss, Ltd, London, 1982.
