Attributed to Kitaro Hakuunsai III, Tokyo, Mid 19th century. , Mid 19th century. Nobleman on horseback and three attendants who walk beside him, one of whom carries a long sword in a scabbard over his shoulder. The reverse shows a noblewoman, seated with flowing kimono, who raises a club-like instrument with her right hand while her left rolls an obi around a mounted shaft. The hair and caps of all figures front and back are dyed black while the lips and appropriate details of all are done in bright red. Signed on the side, Hakuunsai. 3in (7.5cm).
