An impressive golfing medal, cased, with a thistle and oak leaves, crossed long nosed club behind, the medal of circular form enclosed in a wired ribbon band above a pennant, bears the motto, "never up, never in", for Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society, Instituted 1735, the centre with crossed clubs and three balls amidst thistles, the back engraved won by Mr John Cruikshank with 52 strokes, Edinburgh, 1 November 1873, makers mark only J.B 8cm high, 5.5cm wide £3,000-4,000 See Illustration.
