An early 19th century creamware jug printed in black with the scene and verse from 'Palemon and Lavinia' where he first meets her harvesting his fields and on the other the stately home promised in his words 'The fields, the master, all my Fair! are thine', 22.5cm high (R). James Thomson published these verses in his 'Seasons' illustrated by P W Tomkin and F Bartolozzi in about 1807. The meeting of the lovers was cruelly parodied by James Gillray in a cartoon £500-800
