(Disney 1936/1944) An extremely rare drawing from an unproduced Disney short, "The Emperor's New Clothes." In 1936 Ted Sears and his team began developing concepts and storyboards but the project was eventually shelved. In 1944, Disney partnered with Simon and Schuster to publish "Walt Disney's Surprise Package," featuring a series of illustrated short stories based on projects that were in production at Walt Disney Studios. The book was illustrated using the developmental artwork from the short and feature-length films. This drawing, originally used in the development of the short, was later adapted for the book. Accomplished in ink, watercolor, and graphite on trimmed 10.5"x7.25" animation paper, the images appear on page 30 of the book and are in very good condition exhibiting light smudging and wear.
