(Disney 1936/1944) An extremely rare drawing from an unproduced Disney short, "The Emperor's New Clothes." In 1936 Ted Sears and his team began developing the short for production. Concepts and storyboards were produced but the project was eventually shelved. In 1944, Disney and Simon and Schuster published "Walt Disney's Surprise Package." The book featured a series of stories, all of which Disney was working on or had worked on for production. The book was illustrated using the developmental artwork from the studio. This drawing, originally used in the development of the short, was later adapted for the book. Accomplished in ink, watercolor, and graphite on trimmed 11.25"x10.5" animation paper, the image appears on page 28 of the book and is in very good condition with light smudging throughout.
