An Industrial Nameplate “AVONSIDE”. This rare, engraved brass nameplate was carried on the front of a 4-wheel 40 H.P. petrol mechanical locomotive built by Avonside as Works No. 2013 in 1932, possibly for demonstration purposes. At some date it went to Joseph Pugsley & Sons Ltd, Bristol, then in November 1932 to E.S. & A Robinson Ltd, Keynsham Paper Mills, Bristol as their “No.1”. About 1969 the firm became part of John Dickinson & Co Ltd at Keynsham Paper Mills. The locomotive was scrapped about 1968. The plate is a ‘half-moon’ shape, 24½”x3¾”, unrestored. NSB.
