(Pixar, 1997-98) A collection of early development documents for "Monsters, Inc.” Included are an outline, memo, and pitch text dated June 12, 1997, along with a beautiful 75-page pitch book telling a very early, different version of the film’s story through text and color prints of concept art. This version featuring Johnson and Mary instead of Sulley and Boo, is much darker than the realized film. Mary is a troublesome pre-teen, unlike toddler Boo, and while Johnson clearly evolved into Sulley, there is no sign of a Mike Wazowski character. The memo on Pixar letterhead is signed by Pete Docter, Ralph Eggleston, and Allison Murphy. Also included is a full 77-page script dated March 26, 1998 representing another very different step in the development of the feature film that would not be released for another three years. Ranging in size from the 8.5” x 9.25” memo to the 10” x 11” pitch book, the items are in good to very good condition with creases, scratches, discoloration from age, light stains, and wear from production use.
