(Warner Bros., 1938) A photostat model sheet of a very early Bugs Bunny for the Merrie Melodies short “Hare-um Scare-um.” This was the rabbit’s third appearance before his official debut two years later in “A Wild Hare.” Although “Hare-um Scare-um” was not considered an official Bugs Bunny cartoon, this is the model sheet where the character got his name, as the artist, Charles Thorson, had labeled it “Bunny” for the short’s co-director, Ben “Bugs” Haraway. Measuring 8” x 10” taped to 8.25” x 11.5” paper, the model sheet is in fair condition with heavy creasing and edge wear, a 0.75” tear to the top right corner, pinholes from production use, and light discoloration from age.
