An Autograph book containing a treasure trove of signatures, such as Mahatma Gandhiji in Devanagari (6.1.46 Sodhpur – captioned by the collector at the bottom), Jawaharlal Nehruji, Kamla Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali, Abdul Ghaffar Khan also known as ‘Frontier Gandhi’ (signed in English and Urdu), Sarojini Naidu, Jagjivanram, KM Cariappa, Nandlal Bose and Vinayak Shivram Masoji both have drawn a landscape just above their signatures, PC Sorcar, Ram Manohar Lohia, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, S.S. Batlivala (a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India) writes above his signature “Don’t be idle – get up & organise”, and signatures of several other freedom fighters, artists, writers, scientists etc. who had visited Santiniketan at that time. The present owner has digitalized each autograph page identifying whose autograph it is, and has researched several personalities but some five remain un-deciphered and requires further research. Most of these autographs were taken at Santiniketan, name of the autograph collector is mentioned on the first page, it is believed that he was at Santiniketan in the 1930’s and 40’s as a student under Nandlal Bose. The overall book is in average condition, some pages have a slight tear not affecting the signatures and some pages have brown stain marks. Very interesting and Very Rare.
