An 18thC French Provencal ARMOIRE in stained Brittany fruit wood c1740, a moulded cornice above a frieze carved with shell and sprig motifs, the style, based on the traditional 17thC Louis XV period, this was popular with the Provencal furniture makers of Brittany, Normandy and Bordeau who usually worked in walnut, cherry or chestnut, right through to the late 19thC, the two doors with original cut-out brass escutcheons open to reveal replaced carved and shaped apron and stump feet, appears to have retained original patination, 205cms x 55cms x 207cms.
