Incredibly rare Amy Winehouse 2002 “10 AMY 1” promotional 10˝ album, signed twice in black felt tip, “Love, Amy, x,” on the promo cover and then on the record’s front white label. The promo disc contains early unreleased versions of three Winehouse songs: ‘Close to the Front,’ ‘Take the Box,’ and ‘I Heard Love Is Blind’ (acoustic), the latter two would appear on her 2003 debut album, Frank, with ‘Take the Box’ eventually becoming the album’s highest charting single. A final version of ‘Close to the Front’ would appear several years later as a bonus track on the Japanese version of Back to Black. The promo disc is noted as simply, “10 Amy 1.” The hand etched matrix runout is: Side A: 10 AMY 1 A2 / Side B: 10 AMY 1 B2. Side A also has the word ‘UNITY’ etched in the dead wax. In fine condition. The consignor notes that the autographs were obtained at a London-based charity event in March 2004; at this point in time, Winehouse was a relatively unknown UK-based jazz singer. She wouldn’t release her breakout album, Back To Black, for another two-and-a-half years.

In 2002, 18-year-old Winehouse signed with Simon Fuller’s 19 Management, and soon recorded a number of songs prior to signing a publishing deal with EMI. With her name and newly launched website hand-stamped to the plain white label, this represents the earliest promotional record by Winehouse. In her February 2003 audition with Island Records, Winehouse would perform a stripped-down acoustic version of ‘I Heard Love Is Blind’ while sitting on a couch in their London office. This historic moment was captured on video and shown in the 2015 documentary, Amy. This is an extraordinary museum-quality artifact documenting the early artistic career of the legendary musician.
