ALS signed “Amy, xxxx (lioness),” one page, 7.5 x 9.75, January 12, no year. Letter to her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, in full: "Do nothing 'til you hear from me handsome, I need your arms around me so I can inhale, open my eyes, breathe my heart's breathe out. We are bigger than our heart's breadth, our arms extended, we are bigger than Russia or China or Canada. We are taller than Fable Mountain and it is scary how big our love is, it's a buoy that's keeping my chin up son, my head above water. I'll do nothing til I receive reply baby, I'm begging you darling to write me once…There's a piano bar here Blakey and I saw Do Nothin' and I tore it out for us. I'll never forget the first time I sang at you (Jazz After Dark? The bedroom at Jeffrey's?) and the second time (After Dark or in our bedroom) Defo. Loved one you are my most precious poisonous possession, my most cherished boy, my darling husband. I love you Blake, your wife & GemHen." Winehouse draws several hearts around a sketch of a baby alligator or crocodile, which she names "Christopher," and asks: "(Did you get him his golden rattle for Xmas lover?)." In fine condition.

After years of on-and-off dating, Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil married on May 18, 2007. Simultaneously torrid and destructive, their relationship was punctuated by bouts of substance abuse and public outbursts, episodes that ultimately led to their divorce on August 28, 2009. The presence and influence of Fielder-Civil in Winehouse's career is again rooted in polarity; her former husband, who admitted in a 2012 interview that he introduced Winehouse to crack cocaine and heroin, was likewise a notable influence on her fashion and the muse behind the singer's most famous hits on her Grammy Award-winning album Back to Black. The mention of Jazz After Dark also holds significance, given that the longtime SoHo lounge and music venue was a regular hangout for Winehouse, who would often share the stage with the house blues band. Handwritten letters from Winehouse remain extremely rare, with this particular example all the more desirable given its recipient, her unusual sketch, and Winehouse's lyrical ode to Duke Ellington's 1944 song 'Do Nothing till You Hear from Me.'
