Rich, dark purple Uruguayan amethyst geode with two crystal balls. Stunning display specimen of small, royal purple amethyst crystals that have formed on two balls growing from this slice of geode. We recommend displaying this piece centered directly in front of one of the larger quartz crystal points featured in this sale for optimum visual appeal! Balls are roughly golf ball size with one being slightly larger, as is often the case. This large piece measures approximately 10 x 4 inches and from the outside bottom edge to the tip of the slightly larger ball the height is about 3.75 inches. Amethyst geodes from Uruguay are known for their exceptional, deep purple color and high-quality crystals. They are cut from basalt geodes mined primarily in the Artigas region of northern Uruguay. These amethyst specimens are prized for their vibrant color saturation and polished, mirror-like finish. Not all the crystals on this piece are intact, especially those on the protruding globular formations. Undamaged, this piece would be worthy of museum exhibition, due to the unusual formation and the unlimited opportunity for anatomical comparison and comical innuendo, guaranteeing this piece will draw attention and provide spectators with entertainment as long as it remains on display for new audiences to admire. Definitely a conversation piece. We suggest the display of this specimen is accompanied by signage prohibiting "cupping" the formations, which proved too tempting for some of our staff. If you admire the unique shape of this piece, we recommend you check out the white popcorn cave stalactite in this sale. Display stand is included, but a much larger crystal point will be needed to complete the display, unless the winner is particularly fortunate in this department.
