Ames U.S. Model 1840 Light Artillery Saber with Scabbard
The saber has a 32" curved single fuller blade, with makers and "D.R." inspector's marks and 1863 date on the ricassos. A "D.R." inspection mark is stamped on the reverse side of the knuckle bow. The saber has a regulation brass hilt, turned MC, pommel. The leather covered grip is wrapped with twisted brass wire. The saber has a regulation, iron, bright finished, scabbard.

Very good. The blade has most of the original finish, slightly dulled with age. There is some scattered age discoloration. The brass guard has a mellow age patina. The leather grip cover is intact and the wrap is tight. The scabbard is in good condition with a mottled brown patina.
