Ames Model 1860 Navy Cutlass and Model 1852 Naval Officer's Sword
1) Model 1860 Naval Cutlass, 26 inch single fuller blade with 1861 date and Ames mark on the ricasso. The cutlass has a leather grip cover, brass Phrygian helmut pommel and half-basket guard. The cutlass is complete with a black leather scabbard with frog stud and brass rivet reinforcements on the seam. 2) Model 1852 Naval Officer Sword with 27 1/2 inch double fuller blade with acid-etched decoration. The gold-plated hilt has "USN" between the knuckle-guard bows, a stylized dolphin quillion and ray-skin grip with twisted wire wrap. The sword is missing the scabbard.

1) Cutlass is good, with some moderate flaking on the leather wrap, age spotting on the blade and a mixed patina on the brass. There are several shallow dents in the knuckle-guard. The scabbard is in poor condition with missing throat on tape repairs on the top. 2) Very good, with light blade spotting and wear on the brass and rayskin.
