1) Ames 1840 Artillery Saber with 32 1/2" single fuller blade dated 1865. The back of the pommel is stamped with the rack number. The saber has a regulation iron scabbard. The obverse ricasso is stamped "U.S./A.D.K./1865" and the reverse is stamped with the N.P. Ames logo. The brass guard and pommel have been silver plated. 2) Model stamped: AMES Mfg. Co." on the reverse ricasso parallel to the blade edge. A rack number, "230" is stamped on the back of the pommel. The saber has the regulation brass hilt and pommel with leather grip cover with wire wrap and steel scabbard. 1860 Cavalry Saber, 35" double fuller blade with Ames marked ricasso, two-branch brass guard and wire wrapped leather grip. With metal sheath and handling rings.

1) Fair. The blade is in very good condition with scattered age spotting. The leather grip cover has heavy flaking and the wire wrap is missing. The scabbard has been heavily polished and has scattered pitting and age spots. 2) Good, with spotting and mild pitting on the blade, fine aged color on the brass, light grip wear and mixed colors on the scabbard.
