(Americana) DS, 2+pp, April 16, 1850, folio, Paris, Tennessee. A divorce petition, in which Thomas Jones requests the Honorable William Fitzgerald, Judge of 9th Judicial Circuit, for a divorce. Claiming that his wife "was delivered of a child of color about the 10th of January 1850, making a period of seven months 23 days from said marriage until the delivery of said child; that the said child was begotten by a negro man." He further accuses Virginia of committing adultry since the marriage and states that he "has not had sexual intercourse nor lived with the said Virginia since he was advised of the commission of said offenses."
