American percussion cape gun with SxS mounted barrels marked L. J. Church, Tecumseh, Michigan circa 1863 to 1870’s. The gun measures 49” overall with 34” barrels, right barrel approximately .41 caliber rifled, left barrel 12gauge smoothbore. The metal surfaces show a gray to brown patina finish with some light to slightly heavy scattered pitting and erosion. Most of the pitting occurring on the breech end of the barrels and firing areas. The stock shows some even wear but is good with some small losses at the edges and normal aging. The barrel is well marked as are the locks. A small period peep sight is retained in the tang. The action is good and the gun has seen wear but has not been abused and is untouched and out of the attic condition. A correct style ramrod is included. Est.: $1,200- $2,400.
